Floor Construction Details
Solid:
Entire plank/ Strip or block of noble hardwood. Thickness from 18 – 22mm with variable widths and lengths available.
Engineered:
A surface wear layer of sawn noble hardwood of 4 – 8mm in thickness on a solid birch plywood base of 12 – 16mm thickness. The overall thickness will be 16 – 24mm, normally 20.5mm. Widths from 180mm – 260mm. Lengths 1600 – 3000mm.
Solid Engineered:
This is a 3 layer construction with a sawn noble wood top wear layer, a vertical grain noble wood core and a noble wood back layer for perfect balance. Normal thickness is 18mm up to 24mm. Widths from 180mm – 480mm and lengths from 2000 – 6000mm.
Semi Solid:
Normally a 3 ply construction with a surface hardwood wear layer 3 – 4mm, core of end grain Spruce or Heavia and a balancing back layer of Spruce or Heavia ply.
Engineered Two Ply:
Usually a 4 – 6mm hardwood wear layer on old growth, end grain Spruce staves. Thickness 10 – 12mm with widths 75 – 120mm.
